WHY ARE NIGERIAN MUSICIANS DOING COLLABOS WITH EAST AFRICAN BIG ARTISTS? Mulika Entertainment Writer Benjamin Wangila finally drops the bombshell. Find out how!

WHY ARE NIGERIAN MUSICIANS DOING
COLLABOS WITH EAST AFRICAN BIG ARTISTS?

"We are tired of dancing to remixes give us new
songs"
"Kenyan artists should stop being used
to market others at their own expense."

Off late most Nigerian artists are after collabo's with big hitting artists
in EA. Is it because our music industry has grown and perhaps gone beyond east africa? Or because
Nigerians have their own interests??  The later seems to be. Why am I saying so? This is because  most collabos done are remixes of big hitting songs e.g. DAVIDO did a remix with DIAMOND  on NUMBER ONE, IYANYA did  a remix  with SAUTI SOUL  for the  SURA YAKO hit song, then he did with jaguar on ONE
CENTIMETER. These Nigerians seek collabos on hitting songs and doing remixes
but not doing a new song. Why can’t they remix their big hit songs with E.A artists?
e.g. Davido remixing AYE with Diamond or Iyanya doing a remix of his big hit
with Sauti Soul or Jaguar??. This is a marketing strategy for the Nigerians
to hit in E.A  because in their own backyard they are already known and
already marketable .

 Ben argues,

The collabos are doing Nigerians more good than our E.A musicians, Jaguar can attest  to this as Iyanya duped him. The two who never moved even a centimeter away when doing the collabo are now kilometers away and Jaguar is no more picking Iyanya's phone calls. Before ONE CENTIMETRE remix was
released  the two musicians agreed the song to be released on the same date and day in their various countries but Iyanya never released the song in Naija as it was agreed. This shows how Nigerian musicians use their E.A counterparts to market themselves in E.A and Africa as a whole. If really Nigerians mean good with these, collabos why can’t they do a new song where they give their ideas and make a hitting song as one and market it as a unit? Let them emulate the Caribbean artist like Demarco ft Redsan they gave us Badder than Most, Wyre/Cecil with She Say Dat, last but not least Wyre/Alaine Nakupenda Pia. We are tired of dancing to remixes give us new
songs as collabo's ogah oooh more so Kenyan artists should stop being used
to market others at their own expense.

  1. And ben said the truth. these oga brothers are taking east african artistes for a ride. now that they have made it big in west and central africa, their target is not east africa. they will show interest like the way iyanya did with sauti souls sura yako and jaguars one centimeter, do the songs, and then disappear,. and they are not afraid of breaching any sort of agreement. so our east africa artistes, kaeni chonjo, dont be duped again. my two cents though.
