                                                               Comedy in kenya today has taken a totally different new approach. Since the times of the late legendary mzee ojwang , mama kayai, mwala to todays churchil.  Comedy industry has evolved, grown and matured to some awesome heights which has seen many presumed young talented men and women venture into it as a full time job.today kenya  has a great number of stand up comedians who are currently making it big in the big mainstream creative laugh industry. Thanks to churchills inspiration. Churchill is regarded as the father of comedy in kenya. 

Mulika entertainment writer caught up with  a promising fast uprising standup comedian turned radio presenter known by his stage name as 'maasai' for an exclusive interview.

Maasai takes us down through his personal life, to hustle and the plans he has for his future.

Mulika ent: Well to start off, thank you for your time and accepting our invite for this interview.

Maasai: Ua welcome Sir the Fleasure is mine.

Mulika ent: Ours too. So tell us about yourself. Who is Julius maasai?

Maasai: Aaaah who is Julius Masaai ok.. Am two in One, Am Julius n Masaai julius hana job bt Masaai ako job sasa Masaai akifanya Job Julius Anakula pesa ya Masaai. What I mean is Am a standup comedian, Actor n also a Radio presenter at ATG Radio 91.0 fm... N am saved and I love Jesus coz he is the Reason I made it this FAR

Mulika ent: Maasai as you are popularly known is a jack of all trades, first you are a standup comedian. Tell us about this and how you got into comedy.

Maasai: My mum always tells me that I was with Funny characters when I was young natumwa sufuria Naleta Kijiko, even in School I was clever but stupid, when I came to Nairobi there was A competition at Gbs Tv which I Won,. I started like that now here I am Government comedian.

Mulika ent: When was this?

Maasai: 2011

Mulika ent: Since then you've been able to do a couple of shows, what are some of these shows?

Maasai: I have done many shows in School, in church I have mced many weddings but the one that I did Big I was the Mc of River wood Awards 2015

Mulika ent: While in comedy, What is that one thing that you would consider as your biggest breakthrough? Or what was your biggest breakthrough over the years?

Maasai: My biggest brake through is Breakthrough is Getting a job at Kbc n being a Radio presenter

Mulika ent: Yes about your job at KBC actually vioja mahakamani, how was it and how has it been?

Maasai: I was in Citizen Tv Mashtaka but I went Kbc for Comedy competition called last Laugh we were 300 comedians but I managed to reach final but Corruption came in but I thank God through that am at Vioja mahakamani replace of Olexender

Mulika ent: Radio. What motivated you to join radio? Which radio are you working for?

Maasai: I use to hear people talked in Radio and I thought I must make people Laugh On Radio. Then I joined am On ATG Radio 91.0 fm

Mulika ent: Well, that's now the maasai we know. Let's get back to where we started. There is this Julius we don't really know. So briefly tell us about this Julius, his family background and education as well.

Maasai: Julius is Very Simple n cool guy hananga mambo sana

Mulika ent: {laughter} maasai stop being mean bruh. Jibu swali langu.. Its 3 in 1 lol

Maasai: Family am first born in family of five two boys n three girls. School nimesomea Luhya land n I was not that clever

Mulika ent: Every profession comes with its own challenges, what can you say has been your biggest obstacle or challenge this far?

Maasai: Mmmmmmh challenges are many I have went for more than 500 Auditions n 20 pilotes okay bfor people know u can do it u must walk

Mulika ent: What are some of your achievements so far?

Maasai: I have Achieved a lot being in Radio and On Tv its not easy I Thank God for that,

Mulika ent: Are you married?

Mulika ent: Anything on your ring finger?

Maasai: Yes am Married with Ten kids bt they are not mine walikuja na Mama yao kitu yenye wanafanya ni kuniita baba mm na sema Yesu Ni bwana

Mulika ent: Now that we are almost closing 2015, what is resolution do 2016?

Maasai: 2016 I will be Star, best comedian in Kenya and whole world, and I want to build a house for my mum

Mulika ent: Any word of encouragement for those the upcoming comedians and those who want to join this industry?

Maasai: I will say that its a Jorney of hope n Faith, unakutanga Artist anakam leo anataka achukuliwe leo kesho ako Kwa Tv, No just do ua best respect each other, humble yourself be Prayerful and the Rest shall follow, the bible says Knock and the doors shall be open Ask and you shall be given Nothing is IMPOSIBLE TO GOD

Mulika ent: Your parting shot.

Maasai: My parting Shot, Is I want to thank God for this far he changed my life And also thank My Mum who supports me Siz n bro wamekua wakinizaidia saaana, na MY Fans I tell you hao ndio wamenimake hadi saa hii hapa nimefika Mungu Awabariki saaana
