This week on our Msanii ibuka segment we feature a first
rising gospel artiste going by the name Erastus Mbuva Pius. Erastus Mbuva
which happens to be his stage name is a nairobi based gospel artiste from Mutomo district ,
kitui county famed for his hit single sema nami a song that was produced
by Tim of still alive records. The 27 year old fifth born in a family
of seven is now married and a father of two. Erastus scholed at
Nduu-ndune primary school and later joined the prestigious kitui high
school for his o levels. "I realized my talent in my early age, I have
sang in various choirs up to 2008" says Erustus.
He began his music
journey that is composing/writing/Singing in 2004 and due to financial
constraints he couldnt manage to record any music until in 2013 when he
recorded his first album which had songs among them Ninaomba
,Unikumbuke ,Nisamehe,Neno,Nimekubali,
Erastus alleges that his first album that was produced at Q-bits records didnt do well in market due
to low quality production of both audio and video ,but it instead it
opened ways for his music production and enabled him to learn much in
music industry.
That was just his start. The highly ambitious gospel singer embarked on
recording more and more songs a move that saw him work with one of the
best labels and producers in Kenya, still alive records. In 2014 he
recorded a single song titled 'sema nami' which means speak to me Lord
in Swahili which was produced by Tim of still alive studio. The video
was later shot by sakata media. In 2015, he did record another song but
this time round with a different approach message wise titled 'Sare
madree' a campaign song advocating against alcohol and drug abuse. He
has not done the video yet. Erastus songs are available on you tube.
So what is he upto now? Erastus is working on other bigger projects to which he affirms will be in high levels soon. "I believe in humble beginning and making great impact in gospel music industry,Nobody was created a looser but God made us to be winners", says erustus.
